(New Glasgow)  An overwhelming majority of CUPE hospital workers in Nova Scotia have accepted a new contract with the NSAHO.

CUPE Acute Care Coordinator, Wayne Thomas says:  “The results are in from across the province and an overwhelming majority of our members have accepted the new deal.”

The new three-year agreement includes:

  • Wage increases of 2.9% in each of the three years

  • For the first time ever, benefits for retirees outside of the capital district

  • Significant improvements to shift and week-end premiums

  • Improvement to the job selection process

  • Classification adjustments

The deal reached by five unions on the pension issue is contingent on CAW members ratifying their tentative agreement
