CUPE Nova Scotia is holding its 47th annual convention in Sydney, Sunday, April 25 through Wednesday, April 28 at the Delta Hotel. Convention proceedings got underway at 7:00 pm, April 25.

Guest speakers include:

  • Darrell Dexter, Premier of Nova Scotia, 9:30 am, April 26
  • Stephanie MacInnis-Langley, Executive Director of the NS Advisory Council on the Status of Women, 12:00 pm, April 26 (Guest speaker at Women’s Committee Luncheon)
  • Paul Moist, CUPE National President, 1:30 pm, April 26
  • Claude Genereux, CUPE National Secretary-Treasurer, 9:30 am, April 27
  • Rick Clarke, President Nova Scotia Federation of Labour, 1:30 pm, April 27

Among the issues being discussed and debated at convention will be the recent provincial budget, the fight to keep our water resources public in Canada and the pushback on P3’s, or so-called ‘Public-Private-Partnerships’.
