All of the hard work CUPE has been doing on the pension reform issue in Newfoundland and Labrador is paying off in the form of positive media coverage.
 
On June 19, the province’s largest daily newspaper, the St. John’s Telegram, published an article by well-known broadcaster and Mayor of the municipality of Mount Pearl, Randy Simms, highlighting the union’s leadership role.
 
“The Canadian Union of Public Employees has been at the forefront of an innovative idea. CPP is a highly successful program and the union thinks it should be expanded,” said Simms.
 
CUPE NL President Wayne Lucas and National Pensions Co-coordinator Leanne MacMillan recently met in Ottawa with Liberal and NDP Members of Parliament, from Newfoundland and Labrador, to talk about pension reform.
