Delegates attending CUPEs Newfoundland and Labrador division convention, May 3-6, adopted a number of important resolutions to protect public services in the province and called for pay equity for health care workers.

“We want government to work with unions to solve the disparity in pay equity, said Corner Brooks Donna Ryan, vice-president of CUPE Newfoundland and Labrador Division. As well, the Division wants to see licensed practical nurses around the province performing responsibilities theyve been trained to handle.

CUPE National President Judy Darcy addressed the delegates about the dangers of privatizing the provinces public services. Afterwards the delegates planned strategy to protect public services and fight the Multilateral Agreement on Investment.

The President of the Division is Wayne Lucas. The Treasurer is Rex Barnes. And the Secretary is Dawn Lahey.
