This summary is intended to share information about our work with CUPE’s other national committees and working groups.  Please do not hesitate to contact your regional member of the National Political Action Committee for more information.

We had an opportunity to speak with all other committees and working groups during the March 31st “all committee meeting”, and enjoyed hearing at least a little bit about your mandates and priorities.  It is our belief that political action is a component of all of our union’s work, and we look forward to connecting with you in the future on ways we can assist you in your work.

From our committee meeting, we want to share the following highlights.

• This summary will be sent to your staff advisors after each of our meetings.  It will also be posted to the www.cupe.ca site for the National Political Action Committee.

• We welcomed a member from the CUPE Airline Division, and wanted to make sure our locals know which airlines are unionized.  CUPE represents flight attendants at Air Canada, Air Transat, Canjet, Calm Air, First Air and Cathay Pacific.

• The National Executive Board adopted a Resolution on PPP Inc. – Build Canada Fund, at the March meeting.  We support the commitments made in the resolution and committed to sharing with our divisions.  It is attached for your information.

• We recommend that a lobbyist training program be developed and will provide our detailed recommendations to the CUPE Union Development Department.  A generic lobby kit could be made available to all committees and working groups as a tool to move your issues forward.

We hope you find this summary useful, and again please contact your regional NPAC member for more information.

In solidarity,

CUPE National Political Action Committee
