TORONTO – CUPE Local 79 has and will continue to be available for negotiations with the City of Toronto, despite a city statement today suggesting the contrary, says CUPE Local 79 President Ann Dembinski.

We have been at the bargaining table for six months and the city still hasn’t removed concession demands from the table or moved towards a settlement position on other issues,” she said. “That is the real obstacle to settling this strike and we believe that bargaining through the media will not be helpful.”

Local 79, representing Toronto inside workers, together with Local 416, representing outside workers, continue to bargain with the City, in the hopes of reaching a settlement.
