Cape Breton Regional Municipality’s (CBRM) outside and transit workers have given their Bargaining Committee a strong strike vote.

CUPE National Representative Kathy MacLeod says, “Voting took place in workplaces yesterday, and we now have a strong mandate from our membership to take to the bargaining table when we meet the employer this week.

The last thing anyone wants to see is a disruption in service, but there are a number of outstanding issues that we hope to be able to make some progress on this week” says MacLeod.

Local 759 represents 310 CBRM employees who work in Public Works, Solid Waste, Transit, Arenas, Water Department, Water Treatment, Wastewater, Parks and Grounds, Building Maintenance as well as Cleaners and Janitors.
