Paul Moist, National President of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), and Fred Hahn, Secretary-Treasurer of CUPE Ontario, will rally in support of striking workers at Community Living Association Lanark tomorrow, Tuesday, July 14.

The rally will bring solidarity to members of CUPE 1521.02, on strike since July 4, in an effort to stop the erosion of working conditions and the quality of service delivered to Lanark residents with intellectual disabilities.

WHAT: Rally in support of CUPE 1521.02
WHO: Paul Moist, CUPE National President
           Fred Hahn, CUPE Ontario Secretary-Treasurer
           CUPE members and supporters
WHERE: Carleton Place Legion, 177 George Street, around back
WHEN: Tuesday, July 14, 11:00 AM

The union will not accept the status quo where workers, some of whom have decades of experience, face the prospect of retiring into poverty.  A fair collective agreement means a better quality of service, and that benefits the entire community.

The union holds out hope that both sides can get back to the bargaining table and settle a fair collective agreement.
