CUPE is firmly opposed to the new anti-homosexual legislation recently passed by Russia’s federal Parliament.

The law, which bans the distribution of “propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations”, puts LGBT people at risk of prosecution for exercising their freedom of expression and association. Banning so-called “gay propaganda” will expose LGBT people to greater intimidation and provide fewer protections against harassment and assault.

CUPE has joined dozens of other activists and organizations in signing a letter demanding a robust response from our leaders to this flagrant violation of basic human rights.
