The Canadian Union of Public Employees has issued an immediate work to rule order to its 3,000 acute care workers across Nova Scotia.
The call is in response to the introduction of Bill 68, which removes the right to strike from 9,000 health care workers across the province.
Through its local unions, CUPE is urging all of its members to:
Not work overtime
Not work through their breaks
Not work through their lunches or dinners
Not accept work normally done by other bargaining unit employees
Only perform duties as outlined in their job descriptions
In addition, CUPE will be meeting with other unions in the health care sector on Sunday morning (June 17) to discuss the possibility of joint action to fight the legislation.
Following Sundays meeting, CUPE members will be given further direction regarding additional action against this attack on collective bargaining.
