(St. John’s) – Municipal workers, represented by CUPE Local 1761, have officially signed a new 3-year collective agreement with the Town of Placentia.

The agreement, signed July 15, includes a significant wage increase based on the provincial government template.

The deal also provides a signing bonus plus improvements to clothing allowances and vacation accruals.

CUPE NL President Wayne Lucas says, “I am extremely proud of the gains made in this round of collective bargaining. There was a real sign of co-operation between both the union and the employer which paves the way for labour peace over the next 3 years”.

Says Lucas, “Congratulations are certainly in order”.
