(Truro) – CUPE hospital workers in Truro and Tatamagouche have given their union a strong strike mandate.

CUPE Acute Care Coordinator Wayne Thomas says, “These Service and Clerical workers are our second group to give us a strike mandate.  Once again, they have given their negotiating committee a strong show of support.”

The hospital workers are members of CUPE Local 2525 in DHA 4 at Colchester County
Facilities – the Colchester Regional and Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospitals.

Eighteen groups of CUPE hospital workers across the province outside the Capital District are holding strike votes.

Earlier this month, CUPE announced there would be no job action in the hospital sector before January 11, 2010 because of the H1N1 pandemic.
