New Glasgow –  CUPE hospital workers with the Pictou County Health Authority will be meeting in New Glasgow on Wednesday, October 2 to hear about a so-called healthcare ‘Superboard’ in our province.

CUPE Acute Care Co-ordinator Wayne Thomas will be making a presentation about what the experience has been in other provinces – in particular Alberta and New Brunswick where they have moved in this direction.

Restructuring of this nature would have major implications for labour relations, while also removing crucial health care decision-making from communities across the province and centralizing them in Halifax,” said Thomas.

The union will be holding eight meetings over the next couple of weeks right across the province.

(ATTENTION ASSIGNMENT EDITORS:  Wednesday’s meeting takes place at 7:00 pm at the Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow and is expected to run for one hour. The meeting is for CUPE members only, but Wayne Thomas will be available for interviews before and after the meeting at the number below.)
