CUPE will join with other progressive employers in Ontario in defying a new Tory law forcing employers to post information telling workers how to decertify from their union.

After consultating with its unions, CUPE is refusing to post this propaganda until the government requires all non-union employers to disseminate information to workers on how to join a union.

Thats a fair process that would ensure all workers in the province know their legal rights, says CUPE Ontario president Sid Ryan. Unions believe in equity and democracy in the workplace. If this government wanted to ensure fairness for the millions of unorganized workers across Ontario, non-union employers would be required to post material telling employees they have a legal right to join a union.

This new law is just another in a long list of legislation passed by the Ontario Tories that has resulted in poisoned workplace environments and deteriorating relationships between workers and employers, says Ryan.
