VICTORIA, BC – The CUPE BC Library Committee report to Convention highlighted various projects the committee has been involved in over the past year, and launched the Library Health and Safety Report.  A survey was launched at last convention for public, post-secondary and K-12 library workers. The in-depth report includes survey responses from over 500 individuals from more than 50 communities and 45 locals throughout B.C., as well as follow-up interviews with 23 members.

As open public spaces, libraries are unpredictable workplaces where challenging situations often arise. The report discusses these challenges through the experiences of library workers themselves, and their ideas for how to improve health and safety.

The report will be presented to the BC Library Association conference participants in May. Read the Library Health and Safety Report.
