Over 150 delegates will get down to work today as the 54th annual CUPE Alberta convention gets underway in Fort McMurray.

Over the next three days, delegates will hear from our Provincial and National officers, NDP leader Brian Mason, journalist Marc Lisac, Alberta Federation of Labour President Gil McGowan and Susan Howett of the Council of Canadians.

More than 50 general and constitutional resolutions will be debated on a range of topics, including public private partnerships, working alone and equality issues.

It’s expected that there will be a lot of discussion about the Alberta Government’s proposed health care reforms allowing private insurance into the medical system.
