Members of CUPE 966, municipal workers at the Town of Caledon will make a deputation to council on Tuesday, March 24 at 9 a.m.

The deputation will address plans of the Town of Caledon to outsource the work of three women who are cleaners.

The argument was put forward that decentralizing management of the care of the valuable town properties have caused a decline in the appropriate standard of care.  The specific facilities in question were sites that town employees were not assigned to clean nor maintain,” said Mary Jo Falle, president of CUPE 966.  “Since our members were not assigned to clean the facilities mentioned, it is ridiculous to hold them responsible for the problem and outsource their jobs.

Had appropriate staff been assigned and properly managed and supported there would not be the present concern.  The facilities where there is currently unionized staff are well cared for.”
