CUPE Local 879, employees of St. Patrick’s Mercy Home and the Glenbrook lodge will be marching in support of Public Health Care for patients not profits on Thursday, May 30th at 12:30 p.m.

The march will start on the parking lot of St. Pius X, down Strawberry Marsh Road to Elizabeth Avenue, up the driveway of St. Patrick’s Mercy Home and back to Elizabeth Avenue for refreshments.

CUPE Local 879 President Sherrie Juneja says she is very concerned our most precious social program is under attack and this is our way of standing up and being counted.

Wayne Lucas, President of CUPE Newfoundland and Labrador, says he will tell marchers it’s time for the federal government to say to every right-wing politician across this country, what your doing to our health care system violates the Canada Health Act and if it’s not illegal, we’re going to make it illegal!
