Eight security guards at the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board ratified their first collective agreement as CUPE members, Nov. 28.

The agreement, reached in conciliation, will give benefits to all members, be they part time, full time or over 65.

“This is a huge gain for us. Our decision to join CUPE could not be more worth it,” said CUPE 4977 President Paola Cappella.

The security guards joined CUPE in September 2008. They had been organized with LIUNA.
