CUPE 1897 members, on strike against the Turtle River School Division in McCreary Manitoba, got some support Nov. 19 from members at the annual CUPE Manitoba Municipal Employees Conference being held nearby.

The CUPE members picketed the employer’s offices in McCreary and then ate coffee and donuts donated by local business people. In the photo, CUPE National Representative Doug McLaughlin addresses the strikers as Gary Andrews, Local 69 looks on (bottom right).

The strike began Nov. 4 and pressure is building on the Trustees.

The 100 members of CUPE Local 1897 are getting a great deal of public support and are enthusiastic about the strike.
