CUPE members win respect at the bargaining table
LETHBRIDGE - Employees of the county of Lethbridge have ratified a new contract with their employer that gives them 4.5% wage increases in each year of a three-year deal.
The fifty employees, members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), ratified the agreement last week. The County has also ratified the contract.
CUPE Alberta President D’Arcy Lanovaz says the members are happy with the financial package, but almost as important is the fact that the County recognized the important work the employees do.
“At the bargaining table, County officials told us that our members do valuable work, they contribute to building a strong community,” said Lanovaz. “We couldn’t agree more.”
