SASKATOON: Contract talks between the union representing 260 Saskatoon Public Library workers and library management will resume tomorrow morning.

Negotiations between CUPE Local 2669 and representatives of the library board will start at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow with the assistance of a conciliation officer from the Department of Labour.

The library workers have held ten days of rotating job actions since September 25 to back their demands for a pay equity plan that will ensure equal pay for work of equal value. The library workers, who are predominantly women, are seeking a plan that will bring wages in line with male civic workers.

The union announced that no further job action would be taken while negotiations continued.

The CUPE members voted 77% in support of taking job action at a membership meeting in September. They have been without a new agreement for 18 months.
