The student council at Montra006cs Concordia University has suspended the president of its CUPE local for union activity.

Christina Xydous is the president of CUPE Local 4512, which represents staff at the undergraduate student union. In December the student union executive handed her a two-month suspension.

The disciplinary letter stated Xydous wasnt being suspended for work performance, but rather because she held a press conference along with several student councillors to criticize the councils numerous contract violations.

The union is demanding her immediate return to work with financial compensation as well as a public apology from CSU. You can add your voice to the protest by sending an email to the CSU president at president@csu.qc.ca or sending a letter to the campus paper, letters@thelink.concordia.ca.
