A multi-union campaign to boost public awareness and support for community social services is now underway.
Together with our partners in the Community Social Services Bargaining Association of Unions (CSSBA), CUPE is encouraging members across the sector to use the month of March to host local activities promoting the value of the services they provide in their communities.
Wherever possible, members will team up with those in other unions in the sector, individuals they support, family members and employers to host a workplace activity, community display, or special event.
A key activity for the Community Social Services Matter campaign is to have members arrange a presentation to their local municipal council, asking that councils recognize March as Community Social Services Awareness month, or, a particular week in March as Community Social Services Awareness week.
All local activities will be supported with provincial campaign materials.
