Quilchena lockout reaches day ninety

May 2, 2013 01:15 PM May 1 marked day ninety of the lockout at Quilchena Golf and Country Club. The groundskeepers (who are represented by CUPE 4964) were locked out by the club’s management February 4 after only nine days of negotiations.

Apr 5, 2013 02:41 PM Employees and clients out on the street Saint-Hubert – Friday, April 5, 2013 – The largest service provider for the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ) on the South Shore has locked its doors, leaving employees and clients out on the street. The lockout comes after a conciliation request by the Syndicat des travailleuses du Club optimiste Laflèche, whose members provide SAAQ services in the Saint-Hubert area.

Mar 26, 2013 04:27 PM CUPE 4964 workers at the Quilchena Golf Course marked their 50th day of being locked out with a visit from Barbara Wilson, president of CUPE 3966. Wilson was on hand first thing this morning to present the local with a donation cheque of $500.

Feb 5, 2013 05:16 PM RICHMOND – Locked out CUPE 4964 greenskeeper Mike Chysyk decided at the last minute to change into his steel-toes safety boots to join his co-workers on the picket line today. It’s a good thing he did. Witnesses at the front gate of the Quilchena Golf and Country Club in Richmond say Chysyk’s foot was run over as he tried to get out of the way of the club general manager’s car.

Feb 4, 2013 03:06 PM This morning at 7:15 a.m., management at Quilchena Golf and Country Club locked out its employees. The lockout affects 19 CUPE 4964 members who maintain and care for the grounds at the club and comes after only nine days of combined mediation and bargaining.

Nov 21, 2012 05:10 PM Neither snow, nor sleet nor driving rain could keep CUPE college support workers from their appointed rounds on the picket line yesterday and today across the province (see photo gallery). The two days of strike action follow two years without a contract. The campuses were virtually all shut down, with CUPE locals reporting that few students crossed the picket lines.

Nov 7, 2012 10:09 AM CUPE Local 3338 members shut down the Burnaby campus of SFU this morning at one minute after midnight. The striking workers say they will stay until midnight tonight.
