On Monday, January 28, when Parliament resumes, the Harper agenda will face an unprecedented assembly of social movements uniting in Common Causes.

Common Causes is an initiative that brings together social justice, environmental, labour and other activist groups to fight back against this government’s agenda.

Watch for the launch of the Common Causes website on the 28 as well!

CUPE is proud to be part of this new people’s network. We invite CUPE members to participate in a series of actions and events from coast to coast to launch Common Causes.

So far, we have events scheduled for Ottawa, Nanaimo, Sechelt, Vancouver, Kelowna, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Prince Albert, Toronto, Guelph, London, Montreal, Halifax, Charlottetown, and Saint John. Among the many groups in our large coalition, Idle No More is participating on January 28 and have chosen to make it a day of action for their cause.

We encourage you to organize your own event to show solidarity or to attend one of the Common Causes and Idle No More events near you.

You will find contact information for event organizers for all the events that have so far been planned on the Common Causes Facebook page (note that you do not have to be on Facebook in order to access this site).

Find an event location close to you and email the organizer listed to find out the details of what they are planning. In some cases, to preserve an element of surprise for the event, details of times and locations have not yet been made public.
