A BC health authority is offering workers a chance to win $300 if they don’t call in sick for six months. The Vancouver Sun is reporting that the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority is running the contest to cut staffing costs. While the contest is absurd and dangerous, it’s only a small part of an unhealthy cost-cutting agenda.

In total, HEU reports that the VCHA plans $175 million in service cuts and fee increases. The moves include closing long term care beds, cutting mental health programs, cleaning and food services.
