For immediate release CUPE Local 38 members at the Calgary Parking Authority have ratified a new contract that calls for wage increases from 10 to 20% over two years.

.

This new contract will help to ensure that the Calgary Parking Authority continues to offer one of the best services in the city. These wage increases give the employees recognition for excellence on the job and will assist the Calgary Parking Authority in recruiting new staff, said CUPE National Representative, Susan Ruffo.

The agreement boosts starting rates at the Parking Authority by 18 per cent in the first year to address a problem in attracting workers. Other rates increase by 6.5% in the first year. The agreement also adds payments for weekend and evening shifts.

The employees at the Calgary Parking Authority are professional, well-trained staff who go the extra mile in assisting motorists and visitors to our city. Recognizing the good job they do will help continue to keep the Calgary Authority one of the best services in the city, she added.

The 51 CUPE members ratified the agreement by 77% Thursday, November 8 after 16 meetings at the bargaining table between April and November.
