(Sydney) – CUPE outside workers with the Cape Breton Regional Municipality have ratified a new 5-year contract.

CUPE National Representative John Evans says, “The deal includes wage increases of 2.5% in each of the five years and a number of other improvements including:

  • Major wage improvements for transit operators, cleaners and service person at transit
  • No concessions to the benefits package and a provision that no changes can be made unless mutually agreed by both parties.

Says Evans, “ We hope that this new deal will go some way to providing some stability for both CUPE members in Local 759 and the Regional Municipality.”
