SYDNEY, NS – The union representing Cape Breton Regional Municipality outside workers is commemorating former members.

CUPE Local President Mike Mombourquette says, “The bursaries are in memory of  John Berezuk, who passed away while on the job at Transit and Calvin Michalik who also recently passed away.”

The third bursary is in memory of Local 759 members who were off work with various illnesses and passed away,” he says.

All three bursaries are for $500 and applications have been made available to union members.  They will be drawn at the union’s January meeting.

The bursaries are available to union members in good standing, their spouses, children  and grandchildren and must be used for any form of post-secondary education.
