A new Ipsos-Reid poll commissioned by CUPE shows 84 per cent of Canadians agree that public services should be delivered by public sector workers and 75 per cent support the rebuilding of public infrastructure through direct public investment.

Health Minister Pierre Pettigrew recently warned that Canadians would look to privatization should provinces fail to conform to Prime Minister Paul Martins 10-year plan to reform Medicare. But the poll shows once again that 64 per cent of Canadians want our health care system to exclude for-profit corporations.

The Liberals seem to be listening to their corporate backers rather than Canadians when it comes to the public services we all count on, says CUPE National President Paul Moist.
