CUPE BC President Barry ONeill will be available for media interviews in Prince George this Saturday, September 29 during the following times:

President ONeill will be talking with union members and local community representatives about:

  • the impact of the BC Liberal governments proposed Community Charter legislation, as discussed this week at the annual convention of the Union of BC Municipalities;
  • the effect of the new Essential Services legislation on working peoples rights;
  • the economic cost to local communities of the provincial governments plans to reduce public services by up to 40 per cent, in the wake of major corporate and high-income tax cuts.

The Canadian Union of Public Employees is the largest union in British Columbia with more than 65,000 members. CUPE members provide important community services as municipal, school board, library, university, social services and health workers.
