On April 21 & 22 the Company and the Union met to resume negotiations. We were not able to reach a settlement and we have advised the Company that we will be applying to the Minister of Labour for conciliation. We will advise you once the Minister has assigned a conciliation officer and with the agreed dates of our conciliation meetings with the company.

Meetings will be held at all bases to provide details of management’s last offer as well as the bargaining priorities set by your bargaining committee. We have listed all the meeting dates and locations on the side of this bulletin. Your bargaining committee urges all who can to attend.

We will be conducting a survey of the membership to determine your support of the issues remaining on the table. A copy of the survey will be available in your mail folders in the very near future.

As we are considering the use of a telephone survey, “PIN” numbers will be mailed out the week of April 26, 1999 to all members (except those members in Montreal who already have a “PIN” number as a result of their Local Union elections). These “PIN” numbers should be kept for future use (i.e. vote on the collective agreement).

If you have any questions or concerns please contact a member of your Bargaining Committee.

Your continued support is essential to achieve a settlement that meets your needs. Its time .. for our share.
