SASKATCHEWAN

Thumbs up… to the town of Weyburn, for returning recreation services to public control, refusing to renew a contract with British multinational Serco.

Thumbs up… to the Landswest and Cupar School divisions for ending contracted out school bus services. In both cases, the private contracts cost more than a publicly-operated bus service.

Thumbs down… to the Saskatoon Health Board for using MDS and not releasing details of the contract it’s signed with the private lab giant. The contract is not subject to Freedom of Information rules.
