Owners: Health authority documents list Dr. Kabir Jivraj and his wife, Munira Jivraj, as two of the companys four principle shareholders, with both described as indirect shareholders. A founding member of SCI, Dr. Jivraj is also the Calgary Health Authoritys Chief Medical Officer.

Services for sale: Surgical Centres Inc. has a two-year, $1.4 million contract for eye surgeries, along with a $396,000 contract for dental surgery. The contract expires Sept. 30 2002, with an option to renew for a further year.

Well-connected interests: The Calgary Health Authority notes that Since his appointment as the Vice-President and Chief Medical Officer of the Calgary Regional Health Authority in October 1999, he has resigned as a director of the corporation. Dr. Kabir T. Jivraj has no links with the operation and management of SCI. Dr. Kabir T. Jivraj has had no involvement with the CRHAs non-hospital surgical facility [Request For Proposals] process and has been excluded from all aspects of the RFP process in its entirety.
