OTTAWA – The representative of Air Canada’s over 6,800 flight attendants welcomed today’s appointment of former Ontario Superior Court Justice the Honourable James Farley, Q.C.

Katherine Thompson, president of the Air Canada Component of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) welcomed the appointment of a federal mediator by Canada’s Finance Minister. “We believe the federal government has a role to play in the ongoing pension issues with Air Canada,” said Thompson.

We welcome the government’s participation in pension issues with the appointment of Mr. Farley. As representatives of both working and retired flight attendants, we expect all parties to work towards a common goal – the viability of Air Canada as an airline.”
