To all members of Air Canada CUPE Component

Dear Sisters and Brothers:

Re: Collective Agreement Ratification Vote

The vote to accept or reject the tentative agreement was scheduled to begin on December 12th and be completed on December 21st, 2002.

I have been made aware of some serious concerns with the process that was proposed to handle the electronic voting. Members have expressed concern that the system may not be fair, open and transparent.

CUPE National is committed to ensuring that all the members have the opportunity to have their vote counted in a fair election process.

To make sure this happens, I have asked Ken Hopper, ACC Administrator, to request the Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) to oversee the tabulation of the vote. The CIRB has agreed to do that.

This means that the vote will be delayed for 5 days to accommodate the arrangements that need to be made.

The voting will now take place December 17th to December 30th inclusive.

Thanks for your patience as we work through this process.

Sisters and Brothers, it is critical that your voices be heard. Please vote.

In solidarity,

JUDY DARCY

National President
