Hamilton municipal worker and CUPE activist Ed Thomas is the recipient of the 2001 Health and Safety Award. The author of a book on monuments to workers killed on the job, Dead, But Not Forgotten, Ed has been a dogged advocate for occupational health and safety rights. Judy Darcy called Ed, “CUPE’s unofficial international ambassador” and lauded his efforts around the world to promote April 28th as a day of mourning for workers killed in the line of work.
