Trade unions throughout Africa and Canada are calling on the Canadian government to champion a focus on HIV & AIDS at the next G8 Summit at Camp David on May 18-19, 2012.

Canada must lead in calling on the G8 to implement the 2011 UN Political Declaration on HIV & AIDS and to replenish new resources to the Global Fund to fight AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. G8 countries must also implement the International Labour Organization (ILO) Recommendation 200 concerning HIV & AIDS and the World of Work, and strengthen the G8’s Accountability Framework.

Take the pledge today, then join the Facebook campaign.

For more information, check out our background document for the campaign.

I pledge to work for an AIDS-Free Generation by 2015.  Canada must lead in securing the G8’s commitment to keep the promises in the 2011 Political Declaration on AIDS, ensure  a fully -funded Global Fund remains a vital lifeline for lifesaving AIDS treatment for all in need,  and guarantee workers’ everywhere the right to a workplace free from discrimination and stigma on the basis of their HIV status.
