CUPE Saskatchewan Seeking Partnership with First Nations, the Métis Nation and Inuit

An important step occurred at the conclusion of CUPE Saskatchewan’s 45th Annual Convention. CUPE has been working diligently in trying to partner with Aboriginal communities. Aboriginal economic development, community and social development, employment, training and education are all factors in the pursuit of community prosperity. CUPE wants to consult with Aboriginal communities and their governments to help create employment opportunities that benefit not only Aboriginal peoples, but the Canadian economy as a whole. CUPE wants to create partnerships across communities to link the organizations to share and compare information and to develop approaches to Aboriginal employment. These partnerships will recognize the interdependency of the partners.
CUPE has also invited the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations and Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami (ITK) to a CUPE sponsored dialogue activity occurring on June 1 and 2 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.
