The House of Commons Finance Committee asked CUPE, together with other organizations, to take part in pre-budget consultations this fall. By closing down Parliament in September, the Harper government effectively cancelled these consultations. Then, without any public consultation at all, it tabled a mini-budget with $60 billion in tax cuts that will mainly benefit corporations.
