When I first took office as National Secretary-Treasurer, my office discovered some financial irregularities related to the 2001 election campaign for National Secretary-Treasurer. The National Officers reported on this matter twice to all chartered organizations in the fall of 2002. The matter was turned over to the Ottawa Police so that a full and complete investigation could be conducted.

The police investigation is now over and criminal charges were laid on February 19, 2004. Four people have been charged with multiple counts of fraud and of conspiring to commit fraud. Two other persons were named as conspirators but not charged. No members of the National Executive Board were charged.

The entire matter is now in the hands of the Crown and in the courts. Because of all the above, we will refrain from commenting further at this time but as we have done all along, we will update you when we are able.
